Retirees Reveal Key Ingredient For A Great Job

February 10, 2022

When the time came for Bob Ellis and Ken Lucas to retire, they looked back on their years of service and felt the same. They had a good ride, and they will miss the people. This makes us proud; at ArcelorMittal, we take pride in the work we accomplish and the people who make it happen.

In a way, Bob Ellis grew up here. He walked through our doors as a recent high school graduate, started in our Parts department, continued after a tour in the Navy, and became an Electrician after earning his associate degree in mechanical engineering from North Central Technical College. Throughout his 52 years at ArcelorMittal, Bob found work to last a lifetime and lifelong friends.

Little did Ken Lucas know 23 years ago that he was about to find his forever job. He had only wanted a better job. He had hoped to find one with good pay and good people, like many who find work at ArcelorMittal. For the last 23 years, from Plant 2 Finishing to Plant 1 Shipping, Ken has enjoyed his work. As anyone who knows Ken would agree, he is leaving happy. Here, he found the best job he’s ever known.

There is no magic formula for a great job, but there are key ingredients. At ArcelorMittal, we have good people who perform their jobs well. From a Manufacturing Associate demonstrating mechanical skill to a Chief Metallurgist producing steel, our jobs are a good fit for a wide variety of skill sets. However, as Bob and Ken would say, it is the people here that make ArcelorMittal a great place.

Like many who retire from ArcelorMittal, find the right job to fit your skill set here, and you could enjoy longevity in your job while making lifelong friends.
