JOB DESCRIPTION

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Dismantle, inspect, repair, install, maintain, and adjust all mechanical equipment, including air and hydraulic systems or machinery within plant or plant areas.
• To assist other crafts on any and all work they have the skill and ability to perform.
• Various hand tools, wrenches, power tools, torches, and equipment required to accomplish the task.
• Supervisor assigns work and interprets plant rules and safety regulations. performs work with a minimum of supervision.
• Works alone or directs helper and other workman as required.
• Receives instructions concerning work to be performed.
• Plans job, referring to plans, sketches, or instructions as necessary.
• Selects proper tools and equipment and transports to job.
• Dismantles, inspects, repairs, installs, maintains, and adjusts mechanical equipment such as air, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Change rolls for hot mill, babbitts and scrapes bearings, etc. as required.
• Plans working procedures for a minimum of interference with production.
• Moves machines and equipment so as not to distort machinery being installed or moved.
• Tears units down, diagnoses trouble, and makes necessary repairs.
• Sets, levels and lags equipment as required.
• Makes either temporary or permanent repairs.
• Reports unusual conditions to supervisor.
• Make necessary heating or burning as required to accomplish job.
• Observes safety regulations.

• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Programmable logic controllers: 1 year (Preferred)
• Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)

In exchange for these job class adjustments, it is specifically understood and agreed that, in addition to work normally performed by their trade, all skilled trades employees will assist other crafts on any and all work which they have the skill and ability to perform. This will help further the performance of the maintenance department and the productivity of the plant.
