JOB DESCRIPTION
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
- Receive work assignments from Supervisor and complete work with minimal amount of supervision.
- Read blueprints and drawings, take or read measurements to plan layout with procedures.
- Make repairs with minimal interference to production.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (i.e., cut material with powered saw to match measurements).
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
- Align components using calipers, rulers, etc. and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
- Inspect plus test welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws.
- Exercise proper care of machinery and equipment.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS

- Completion as a Journeyman Welder or 5 years of experience in a heavy metal welding manufacturing facility. (required)
- Must have current AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Welding Code SMAW, 1’, A36, 3G & 4G Groove Weld test certification. (required)
- Proven skills and experience as a welder.
- Attention to details.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, sketches, and plans accurately.
- Experience using various hand tools, wrenches, power hand tools, torches and required equipment to complete task.
- Basic PC skills.
- Candidate must possess the physical ability to frequently lift, climb stairs, stand, walk, crouch, squat, bend, kneel and move throughout the plant as needed.
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklift, scissor and articulating lifts to complete work.
- Participate actively in the training of other maintenance personnel.
- Observe all safety regulations.
- Requires the availability to work any shift in addition to a 7-day work week at times plus overtime as needed.
